Left school in 1962.

Findlay qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1968 and retired as a partner in BDO Stoy Hayward in 2001. Much of his time in retirement has been taken up assisting voluntarily with the finance and governance of The Church of Scotland and he is currently Vice Chairman of The Church of Scotland General Trustees and a director of The Church of Scotland Insurance Co Ltd. He married Ann Armstrong (also an FP) in 1969 and they have 3 grown-up sons, also FP's. He has been a little surprised at how few of his former schoolmates have registered with this 'excellent website'. He very occasionally bumps into one or two who, like him, still live in North Ayrshire but will be pleased to hear from anyone who wants to catch up after 40 odd years.
