Married name: Norma Campbell. Norma qualified as a Medical Secretary at Anniesland College. She has three wonderful children and is now a grandma with one grandaughter, Sarah. She is employed as a sheltered housing manager in Ardrossan. Her passions are fast cars and exotic holidays. |

Married name: Margaret Knight Margaret obtained a DCE at Craigie College in 1967, an ITQ at Jordanhill and a BEd (Hons) at the University of Strathclyde in 1996. She has now retired from Primary Teaching. Her husband Bruce has also retired from the Meteorological Office. They live outside Edinburgh. They have one son, recently married and living in Bonnyrigg. Margaret remembers most of the staff in the picture on the web site and girls from school - Pat Wiseman (who left to go to Glasgow), Mary Ferguson, Isabel Dunlop, Alison Brown, Margaret Evans, Olive Carson, Pamela Barrie, June Blackwood and Irene Parker. Derek, joined ATMAYS travel agents as a junior in 1967. In 1981 he formed his own travel business - Alander Travel which he sold in 1987. He is now a private landlord and Letting Agent, trading as Cunninghame Properties, in Saltcoats. He married Elizabeth in 1982. They have three children and live in West Kilbride. |

When Craig left school he joined the Inland Revenue. He now stays outside Perth. He has many memories of Tubby Anderson 'murdering' his 'attempts at essays', a nightmare at the time. A good smoke in the boiler room was the answer,aaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh happy days. |

Ian first joined the Bank of Scotland then worked for A.T.Mays for six months prior to entering the William Booth College in 1971 and King's College (University of London). He obtained a B.D. (Hons) M.A. He was commisioned as a Salvation Army Officer in 1973. He currently has strategic responsibility for Salvation Army social, community and evangelistic programmes in the UK and Ireland. He married in 1974. He and Chris have four daughters and four grandchildren. They live in South London. |

Married name: Angela Hooton. Angela obtained a diploma in Art at Glasgow School of Art. Angela studied Drawing and Painting at Glasgow School of Art and began her teaching career at Largs High School. She married and moved south to Northamptonshire. She has two sons, and now lives in the village of Broughton, Northamptonshire. Angela teaches dyslexic students and, in her spare time, she wrestles with her garden, paints and sings in an octet called Consensus Vocalis. Angela has fond memories of Madame Smith and Geordie Buchan. She would love to hear from anyone who remembers her. |

On leaving Ardrossan Academy, Jim went to Glasgow University where he studied Maths, Physics and Computing and obtained a B.Sc (Pure Science). After graduating, he married Marion Jackson (Ardrossan Academy 1965). They moved to Gillingham in Kent where Jim worked for CAV and then Texas Instruments. He then moved to the states where he got an MBA from the Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. He worked for several software companies, ran his own consulting business for five years and eventually managed to sell a large software company before the dot com bubble burst! He was able to retire at age 50 and pursue his interests of music composition, brass bands and flying. He is an instrument-rated private pilot and owns his own plane. Jim and Marion have two children and visit Ayrshire at least once a year. He has fond memories of the school magazine, the Rencontre Franco_Ecossaise, Ken Heatherington's music class, Andy Partridge's history class, Colin Crook's science club, and skyving off to roam the hallways "looking for Johnstone Brody". If the teachers were wise to that ploy they never let on! Jim would love to reconnect with any of the old gang, especially the prefects, and reminisce about simpler times. Alex obtained a BSc Hons. Psychology at the Open University. He lives in Kilwinning and is married to Katrina Hamilton, also from AA. They have two daughters Gillian and Fiona and a grandson Daniel. Alex is a compulsive DIY'er and eternal student, hence the OU degree just before he reached 50. For all those teachers, eg Maggie Lyle, who always said "could do better". He is now retired after 35 years with BT and spends his time on geneology and joinery. |

Married name: Anne Keighley. Anne has happy memories of her first and only year at Ardrossan Academy before her family moved to Somerset. She wonders if any of the 10 Annes in her class remember her! She would also like to contact her best friends from West Kilbride, Fiona Bell and Jean Craig. Anne obtained an MA at Kingston University and now lives in Surrey with her husband and two cats. She is currently an English consultant for the National Literacy Strategy. She has not forgotten how to make parkin and still puts milk in porridge. She enjoys the lakes and woods which surround her village but misses Arran in the sunset. |

Michael obtained a B.Sc and Ph.D at the University of Edinburgh. He remembers his teachers, fondly, as dedicated, if somewhat stodgy, folk. His only advice to current students is "Don't make the same mistake I did. F*** your brains out while you still have time and remember to think for yourselves and question authority!". |

Robert emigrated to Canada in 1967 and now manages two large agricultural feed plants.He is married with four great kids. He loved reading about Tommy Hughes and Miss Aitken - his first form teacher. He was back in Saltcoats in November 1999 and walked past the rugby fields where he had so many memories of past games and friends. |

Jim obtained an M.B., Ch.B. at the University of Edinburgh. He has been a General Practitioner in Montrose since 1978. He is married to Lorna and they have three children. Pastimes include playing the organ and computing. He is vice chairman of the Montrose branch of the RNLI and is the lifeboat doctor. |

David obtained an MA and PhD at the University of Edinburgh. He is Curator of Scottish Medieval Collections, National Museums of Scotland. He is also Director of the Finlaggan Archaeological Project. David is married with three children and lives in Fife. |

Colin attended Heriot-Watt University where he obtained an MSc in Construction Management, Jordanhill College of FE where he obtained the Teaching Qualification in Further Education, and Glasgow College of Building and Printing. He is now a Chartered Surveyor and a Chartered Builder. After happy days at Ardrossan Academy, Colin (one of the naughty boys from Largs) drifted for a while before stumbling into construction then tertiary education. Today (2008), Colin is "a lucky old dog" dividing the year between homes in Sarawak on the tropical island of Borneo and Yunnan, a frontier province in southwest China. He is now a self-employed training consultant and lives locally. He remembers, particularly, David Denver, Douglas Fairley, Gregory Soulis and Gordon Hall. He is interested in church activities, sport (curling in particular), music and reading. |

Steve left school half-way through 6th year and, soon after, "emigrated" to Edinburgh. He spent years in the police force and "retired" at 55 from the Scottish Parliament Police Unit. He is now working at the Palace of Holyroodhouse so he is a member of "The Royal Household". He is married to Marlene and has three sons, all bigger than him! Andy left school to join the Navy. After 6 years he left to become a musician. He was the original drummer with LT Pidgeon and also played with Highway, Jimmy Powell & The Dimensions, Don Fardon and many others. He is now retired from music and is a teacher (in BSL) at the 'Exeter Royal Academy for Deaf Education'. He particularly remembers 'Tubby Anderson' - a Great Teacher - and still loves English. |

Jake worked in a bank on leaving school then had a brief few years as one of the few professional scouters in Scotland before going into Educational Child Care. He lives in Dunoon where he is Officer-in-Charge of the school hostel - he tries to get the 54 residents to behave better than he did at Ardrossan Academy! A passionate fly-fisherman, Jake is married to Linda, with two children, Julie and Iain, both of whom got honours degrees. Now the doting grandfather of Eva and the proud owner of a daft-as-a-brush Springer Spaniel called Spud. He only cares to remember a few teachers - 'Joe' Parker, Geography; 'Rufus' Reid, English; both excellent; and a sadistic PE teacher called Hughes! |

Ronald studied at Edinburgh University, the Free Church of Scotland College Edinburgh and Westminster Theological Institute Philadelphia. He was a missionary with the Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Peru in Cajamarca for eight years, a Free Church minister in Wick and Keiss for eight years and in Govanhill Glasgow for ten years. He was a lecturer and then Principal of Dumisani Theological Institute in King William's Town, Eastern Cape Province, South Africa for nine and a half years. He is currently doing lay training and administrative work for the Xhosa speaking Free Church in Southern Africa. His address is : 15 Beaumont Road, King William's Town, Eastern Cape, South Africa. Jim obtained an HNC Chemistry at Kilmarnock Technical College while working in the ICI Nylon works labs. He married Kathleen Devaney in 1968 and they are still happy together in Stevenston. They have two daughters, born in 1970 and 1973. Now have one grandchild, Ella, born in 2004 and a second grandchild is due in November this year. Left ICI when it closed and joined Mobil in the North Sea as 'an oilman' in 1981 before accepting "an offer he couldn't refuse" to retire in 2001. He is now an active pensioner, actively NOT seeking employment! He remembers teachers - Mr (Dumpy)Dempster (Maths), Mr (Balfour) Brown (English) and Miss (Fanny) Aitken (French) and pupils - the Telfer brothers, the Owen twins, Brian Harkness, Brian Ninian, Jimmy Auld, Dave McDonald and Davie Gordon. Ronnie studied Chemistry at the University of Paisley. He then worked for Roche Products until 1987 and then emigrated to Perth, Western Australia where he worked for Delta West, a pharmaceutical company, as a Senior Chemist in The Oncology Department until 1989. He has now swithched careers after losing his sight and is now The Major Events Organiser for The Dennis Lillee Disabled Sports Foundation. He organises Corporate Charity Golf Days and many other corporate events with his own company. He is now a blind golfer currently playing off a 15 Handicap and reached the heights of World Blind Golf Champion back in 1996 and 1998. He is currently the Australian Blind Golf Champion. He can often be found touring around the world giving exhibitions and conducting challenges against many of the top professional golfers, creating awareness on the ability of people with disabilities. He married back in 1982 to Rita Morrison, a girl from Lanarkshire, who also enjoys golf and plays her part in his corporate events company. He still visits Ardrossan often, as his folks live opposite the Academicals Rugby Fields on the High Road. |

Married name: Ursula Maxwell-Lewis Ursula left Scotland to finish school in South Africa. She then trained as a journalist and worked in south, central and east Africa, Britain, Europe and Canada. She founded the Cloverdale Reporter News in BC in 1996 and sold it to Black Press Group Inc. in 2008. She is still on the staff as Managing Editor. She enjoys her 3 children, 2 grandchildren, golf, travelling, hiking, photography and freelance travel writing. |

Bruce obtained a BA in Hotel Management at the Scottish Hotel School, University of Strathclyde. He then spent years in Bermuda, the Bahamas, the Cayman Islands and finally moved to Australia in 1986. He married Frances nee Scott from Moffat - he met her at University. He is now CEO of the Toga Hospitality Group in Australia but is finally thinking of doing more sailing than hoteling. He remembers fondly Inez Andrews, Jean Jardine, Keith Beard and George Breckenridge as particular friends in fourth and fifth year. Mr McFarlane, as headmaster, impressed him but writing lines for being late for 'Tubby' Anderson was a chore! Bruce lives in Sydney, Brisbane and the Whitsunday Islands and welcomes contact from fellow FPs who remember him as one of the three redheads Willie Holland, George Breckenridge - these days the hair is definitely sandy blonde! |

Rodger obtained a City and Guilds in Electrical Engineering at Kilmarnock Technical College. He worked at ICI until 1972 when he moved to Canada and spent the next 32 years working in the pulp and paper industry in Southern Ontario. He married Pierrette in 1980. He has two stepsons. He retired on 1 January 2008 and will be wintering in their other home in Florida. They have all the time now to "Golf Golf Golf !" |

Ken obtained a B.Ed; M.Ed at the University of Glasgow. He was awarded a CBE in 2002 and is "proud to have been an Ardrossan boy who made a wee bit good!!" He never really properly got to leave school, having taught in several schools around Glasgow and in various other education-type posts! From 1993 to 2008 he was Head Teacher and Principal of Hillhead High School Learning Community. Now in semi-retirement he is the new General Secretary of School Leaders Scotland (the rebranded Headteachers Association of Scotland). He has been married to Marion Shedden since 1972. Marion is Head of Hamilton College Junior School. They live in Newton Mearns and have two daughters and one grand-daughter who continue to keep them fit and active. They are still heavily involved in a range of national bodies and church activities so they tend 'not to weary too much!!' |

Tony was the first voice 'on air' with Radio Clyde. He left after two years to be Senior Announcer at STV until 1987, simultaneously running Europe's first cable radio network (Radio Six) from his basement! (Radio Six now broadcasts on SKY and the internet, and via a network of transmitters around the world.) He spent eight years in London as Controller of Programmes at the Cable Authority/ITC then CEO of AsiaVision for two years before moving to Dublin to set up Ireland's first satellite channel, TARA TV. Tony set up a radio station in Cambridge and hosted Europe Top 40 on Ukranian State Radio for a year. He is now back in Glasgow, and having spent nine years as a BBC TV/radio announcer and Network Director he is now the producer and presenter of BBC Radio Scotland's "Nightshift" sequence every night. He also writes a lot - first book 'Concise History of British Television' is now into its second edition and a second book on the history of the Radio Times came out in 2001. A book about the early days of Radio Clyde is due at Christmas time, 2006. Tony would be happy to hear from anyone who was at school with him, as long as their hobbies did not include pushing his head down the outdoor toilet.... |

Ian graduated with Honours in Chemistry from Glasgow University in 1971. He returned to Ardrossan Academy as a teacher on 1 September 1972, was promoted to Assistant Principal Teacher (Science) in 1983 and to Principal Teacher of Chemistry in 1985. Ian retired in 2005 after 33 years as a teacher at Ardrossan Academy. His interests include computers, cycling, music, natural history, photography, walking and a quiet life! |

David obtained an MA in Management at the University of Coventry. He joined the fire service in Ardrossan in 1969, served in Glasgow and Argyll, returned to Ardrossan as Deputy Commander (West Command) in 1998, was promoted to Deputy Chief of Grampian in 2001 and is currently Chief Fire Officer of Grampian. He was awarded the Queen's Fire Service Medal for Distinguished Service in 2004. |

Married name: Denise Hogarth Denise obtained a diploma in Physical Education at D.C.P.E. Edinburgh. She taught at Ravenspark Academy, Irvine with Maureen Boyd and Dusty Miller. She married Sandy Hogarth of Sorbie Farm, Ardrossan in 1976. She left teaching in 1978 to have her family and moved to a farm near Girvan in 1981 where she became a farmer's wife, full-time! They have three daughters. She returned to teaching in 2001. She keeps in touch with Mandy Barnett, Margaret Burns and Moira Kerr. Married name: Nanette Pearson Nanette obtained a Diploma in Primary Education at Craigie College, a Dilpoma in Physical Education at Dunfermline College of Physical Education and a Masters degree in Education (Management) from the Open University. She taught in schools for ten years then went on to Perth College for the next 25 years and took early retirement in 2006. She lives in Perth and spends her time gardening, golfing and as a Citizens Advice Bureau volunteer. |

From 1966 to 1974, Robert worked at Glengarnock Steel Works, Prestwick Airport and The Board of Trade in Glasgow. In 1974 he went to Hong Kong on a "temporary" posting with Hong Kong Government where he stayed until June 1997 when he retired just prior to the handover of Hong Kong to China. He now resides in California with his family. He would like to hear from other former pupils of his era. |

Married name: Patsy Black. Patsy left school to work for ICI. After marrying Bill, they went to live in Bristol where they have lived ever since. They have two children, Jane and David, and two grandchildren, Yorgi and Kleo. Patsy went to university as a mature student in 1990 and gained a First Class BA Honours Degree in Education. She now runs the PGCE Primary and Early Years Programme at Bath Spa University. |

She is also an inveterate student, having obtained a Diploma in Philosophy from the University of Kent, a Diploma in French from the Open University and a 2.1 in French, with distinction in spoken French, from London University. Says she "so much for Geordie Buchan who told me I'd never pass O Grade and was so dizzy I should have been a blonde! No bad for a self-taught degree, with a busy job and three teenage wains." Married name: Jane McWhinnie Jane left Ardrossan to attend Irvine Royal for the pre-Nursing course and qualified in 1972. She is still working as a neonatal sister in Ayrshire Central. She got a B.Sc in Health Studies in 1998. She is married with three children (all former pupils) and lives two minutes from the school where she also served as a board member for a few years. She then went to Jordanhill and taught English at secondary level for three years before deciding she was "not teacher material". She returned to her studies, graduating from Glasgow University with a Ph.D in Scottish literature. For a while, she worked for the Sue Ryder Foundation but then decided to become a writer - something she had always wanted to be. Mills & Boon took her on, and she is still with them, having had twenty-three medical romances accepted and published ....... which makes her bank manager very, very happy ! |

Robert obtained a BSc and a PhD in Organic Chemistry at the University of Strathclyde then had a one year post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Liverpool. He married Sandra (formerly Mair). They have two sons, Mark and Julian. He emigrated to Canada in 1968 and joined Uniroyal, Guelph, Ontario. He moved to Montreal in 1977 as Marketing Manager in Unroyal's Industrial Products Division. After three years in Montreal he moved back to Ontario. The business was sold in 1985 to BBA a UK based company who operated in North America under the name Scandura. Robert was General Manager of the operation 1985-1993. He then moved to Charlotte, North Carolina as President and Chief Executive Officer of Scandura's North American business. The company was sold in 1995 then again in 1997. Robert went into semi-retirement in 2000 and will fully retire in 2003. He now lives in Lake Wylie, South Carolina, working hard on his golf game. He is usually back in Scotland at least once a year and is still in touch with friends from school. |

Married name: Joanne Lorraine Joanne left Ardrossan Academy in third year with no formal qualifications but obtained 4 Highers and 4 O Levels at evening classes. She got married in 1974 and had two children - Ronald and Lara Andrews. She graduated in 1985 as a Registerd General Nurse at the Ayrshire and Arran School of Nusing. She specialised in Oncology and Palliative Care at Crosshouse Hospital. She emigrated to Western Australia in 1989, working in Fremantle hospital and obtaining a BAC Social Science and the Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Managment at Edith Cowan University and Curtin University. She has had a fantastic career in the Management of Home Care Services, as a consultant in Quality Management and now as Manager of Community Services for the City of Fremantle. She enjoys treking, arts and crafts, photography, travelling, singing, wining and dining and the "good old Aussie family BBQs". Her main passion at the moment ( apart from the grandchildren) is Aussie Rules Footy. She visits Scotland approximatley every two years where she still has a brother and sister. She would love to hear from any of her class-mates from school. |

Married name: Lynda Shanks. Lynda obtained a B.Sc in Zoology at the University of Aberdeen. She has lived in Stirling since 1972 and married Jim Shanks in 1975. They have two great children - Andrew and Sarah. Before her children were born Lynda taught at Kilsyth Academy and Larbert High. She is currently a temporary part-time teacher of Biology at Larbert High School. She was friendly with Liz McClymont when she was at school and would like to get in touch with her again. |

He did not continue to university, drifting instead through many jobs and several countries. In his thirties he discovered he had a gift for ultramarathoning, and got himself a couple of entries in the Guinness Book of Records. He competes on a world class level, in races of a thousand miles and more. He works in the reforestation industry in British Columbia Canada. He has good memories of his english teachers Mr. Anderson and Mr. Reid, known affectionately as "Tubby Anderson" and "Rufus Reid" amongst the students. |

Keith left school to join the British Linen Bank (subsequently Bank of Scotland) with whom he remained for 36 years until granted early release in 2000. His latter roles involved regional marketing which fuelled an interest to take a postgraduate diploma and MSc courses in that subject. Since leaving banking he has entered partnership with three fellow graduates to form NextLevel Associates (www.nextlevelassociates.com), a strategic marketing consultancy. This supplements his pension and allows for the odd pint of Guinness. In 1989 he married Lindsay Brown from West Kilbride. They live in Largs and begat Kieran (1991) and Rachel (1994). His hobbies are golf, petanque and watching Kilmarnock F.C. Keith remembers teachers Bert and Madam in the Art Department, the ramblings of Andy Partridge and Jimmy "Russ Conway" Tait who now teaches Kieran music at Brisbane Primary in Largs. Best of all, was inflicting a first ever defeat on Geordie Buchan and Guy Whitefield in the annual teacher/pupils golf match. Contact from classmates is eagerly anticipated. |

He is now a Chartered Mechanical Engineer employed by ExxonMobil. He lives in the South of England. He is married with two sons and two grandchildren. He enjoys gardening, golf and swimming when he has time. |

Graham completed a Marine Engineering cadetship with BP Tankers then enjoyed a career at sea, becoming chief engineer before leaving that behind him and going to Heriot-Watt University. He graduated with a B.Sc in 1986. A post graduate Diploma in Marketing followed. He moved to Stirling in 1970 and married in 1973. His son, Ross was born in 1978 and his son, Hamish was born in 1980. Divorce followed in the mid 80s and in 1988 he came 'home' to West Kilbride. Shortly after that he met Caroline (Geldart). They married, lived in Caldwell Road and have two children, Jack (1996) and Ruth (1997). He enjoys sailing, curling and looking at the view. |

Beth obtained a BSc at the University of Edinburgh and a PhD in Physics at the University of Cambridge. She then became a computer programmer. After 10 years working for small computer start-ups, she is now a Software Architect with IBM, in Winchester. She is married, with no children, which gives her lots of time for her favourite activities of golf and travel. She doesn't do so much sailing these days, but used to own a yacht and lived aboard for 2 years in the Med in the mid-80s - all thanks to her initiation at Largs Sailing Club. She's managed to keep in touch with Marna McLelland from '66, but lost touch with Helen Cunningham in '74 and Liz Gourley in '71. |

John left Ardrossan Academy in 1964 to start an electrical apprenticeship with ICI (Ardeer). He attended Kilmarnock Technical college on day release, and gained a C&G. After 14 years with ICI, he joined Shell in 1978 where he has worked on four oil production platforms (including the operations / electrical commissioning of the Gannet 'A'). He is currently the RPE, (Responsible Person Electrical - 'grand title' for technical and HSE authority), working on the Gannet 'A' platform, as well as being an NVQ assessor in electrical, and hydrocarbon operations. He has been married since 1970, has four children, and two grandchildren. He lives in Ellon, about 17 miles north of Aberdeen. His hobby is golf, and he managed a handicap of 9 for a very short time. |

She obtained an MA in Natural Sciences at the University of Cambridge and a Ph.D at UEA (Norwich). She now lives in St. Andrews and is married with 3 grown-up children. She has recently retired from the Scottish Crop Research Institute where she worked on MRI of plants. She plays golf. |

Mike has 'good memories' of Ardrossan Academy although he was only there for two years. He obtained a B.A. Hons in Admin. & Industrial Relations at the University of Strathclyde. He then spent several months as a gravedigger at Largs cemetery before starting his career in Personnel management with Glynwed in Falkirk. After 11 years he moved to HarperCollins (Publishers) in Bishopbriggs. He took early retirement in 1994 and now lives in California, near Falkirk, with his wife Marie and their mad cocker spaniel. His interests include computers, archery, Spain (he has a flat there) and 'chilling out'. |

Married name: Marie Schoenmakers Marie moved with her family to Canada in 1966. After a career with the Human Resource Development Ministry of the Federal Government she is now retired. She and her husband Tony have 2 children (Cory and Kim). Marie and Tony have owned and operated their own limousine company since 1995 from their home in Sydenham, Ontario. Marie remembers a few friends from school she would love to contact, including, Isobel Cameron, Anne Burnett and Eleanor Campbell. She has not been back to Scotland since 1974 but is hoping to return soon for a visit. |

Raymond left Ardrossan Academy whilst in the 4th year and started an electrical apprenticeship with Shell at the Ardrossan Refinery. He left the refinery in 1965 and worked at Hunterston until 1968. He then worked in several locations in England returning to Scotland in 1973 to work at the Beechams Facility in Irvine. He worked overseas from 1978 to 1983 then moved to Aberdeen to work with Conoco until his retirement in 2002. He is now living in Aberdeenshire. He has two daughters, Karen and Lorraine, by his first marriage and is now remarried to Karen. |

Mike obtained a BSc at the University of Glasgow. He then qualified as a teacher at Jordanhill College. He has taught Geography, first at Auchenharvie Academy and then since 1979 at Marr College. He married Anne. They have two sons, Patrick (13) and Alistair (11) and live in West Kilbride. He has many good memories of his days at Ardrossan Academy. His former Geography Teacher, Mr Penman, introduced him to his hobbyhorse in a trip to Brunnen, Switzerland, back in 1964! Since 1974 he has specialised in organising annual trips for S2 pupils from the above schools to Wilderswil in the Bernese Oberland. |

Stewart started his career with ICI in the Nylon Plant at Stevenston. When this was closed in 79/80 he followed the Oil Industry to Aberdeen and he now owns a Company which offers various services to the Oil Industry. He married Ruth Fyfe in 1970 and they have three sons: David, Alastair & Iain. His interests include off road driving, model aeroplanes and tinkering with mechanical things. |
