Ardrossan Academy ski trips are known for the banter amongst pupils, the great ski resorts visited and of course Mr Gilchrist's sing along. Unfortunately this year we did not have the pleasure of Mr Gilchrist and his guitar's company but I'm quite sure Mr Carr, Mr McLean, Miss Fisher and Alison's efforts on the karaoke would have done him proud!
The long bus journey to Manchester kicked off our 2011 and for some of us, last ever ski trip with the school. Finally after 5 hours on the road we made it to the airport. At an hour none of us knew existed - 4am, we checked in. After a long wait we finally boarded the plane to Grenoble and landed in France two hours later. We collected our bags and made our way to yet another bus - oh the delight! To be honest we don't usually appreciate the scenery but the views from the bus were quite magnificent. After three and half hours of twisty mountain roads we made it to Montgenevre. We were exhausted after travelling for about sixteen hours but we were excited to get our skis and ski boots and couldn't wait to hit the slopes the next day.
Fuelled with excitement and raring to go we met our instructors at the foot of the slope. Now, there is only one word to describe Ludo, Didier and Joe and that is - crazy! Knowing that our safety was in the hands of Ludo was slightly worrying but we knew we were in for a fun week with some epic skiing. Day one of skiing came to an end rather quickly, too quickly in fact, but Will and Ryan, the ski plan reps, had prepared a quiz about the town for us after dinner. Each night they had planned some activity for us to take part in. It varied from a quiz, to ice skating, to bingo- yes, bingo- and a disco/karaoke where some interesting dance moves were on show and not only from the pupils!
All in all we had a great trip. Fresh snow, sunshine and banter what more could we have asked for to make our ski trip a memorable one? (Contributed by Mhairi McKay, Laura Mackie and Victoria Wilson S6)
