Welcome to our school web site. Ardrossan Academy has a long tradition of service stretching back 125 years. Throughout all of that time our purpose has always been the same: to provide a first class education service to the young people of Ardrossan and the surrounding area and to help them to become all they can be, intellectually, socially, physically and morally. Our motto 'Ad Astra' sums up our aspirations. In Ardrossan Academy we 'aim for the stars'. Since my arrival as Head Teacher in 2006 I have been determined to breathe new inspiration into those long held aspirations. Recent years have seen an element of social decline and even deprivation in Ardrossan and sometimes in adversity we forget the power of education to open the doors of opportunity for our young people. They are our future. And we must never let them down. I know very well, however, that I cannot be the only source of inspiration. I look to my colleagues, parents and, of course, the young people themselves to work together in a spirit of collegiality to sustain and build upon the very best of our traditions. In the pages of this web site you can read about the efforts we are making as a school community to keep those stars firmly in focus. And we can certainly make a point of letting you know about those occasions when our young people succeed in touching them. Feel free to contact me at any time, teacher, pupil, parent or friend of the school, with your suggestions about how we might improve the quality of our education provision.
