Buddying - an S6 Perspective by Bobby Todd
Buddying is when a sixth year pupil helps out a pupil from further down the school usually, a first year. This system has been designed to help those younger students who perhaps need a push in the right direction and encouragement and support, which only another pupil can offer. From my own experience this can be difficult, as you must get to know and bond in your pair. This, however, was little problem for my buddy and myself and we now get along great. I help in various classes - either sitting in or doing one to one elsewhere - and try my best to encourage more independence and comprehension in my buddy's learning. From this experience I have developed the ability to work with different people in different roles, and have hopefully given boosts to both my buddy's confidence in dealing with people and attitude to work. |
