STANDARD GRADE PHYSICS

The information below should remind students what will be expected of them during the two year Standard Grade Physics course and also let parents know what is involved.

Standard Grade Physics is only offered at General and Credit levels.
There is no Foundation level in Standard Grade Physics.

In total, 7 units of work will be covered:

Year 3 June to October Telecommunications
  October to December Health Physics
  January to April Using Electricty

Year 4 June Practical Investigations (part of final grade)
  June to September Transport
  October to December Electronics
  January to March Energy Matters
  March and April Space Physics and revision

In each unit, students will be given learning outcomes and summary notes covering the required content.

Progress will be monitored in three ways:

In addition, revision homeworks for each section will be issued before the end of unit test as well as revision examples in class. A unit report will be completed and issued for each unit of work to allow parents to be informed of progress. The main assessment for awarding the final grade is the examination in April/May.
