Main aims:
- To provide an appropriate range of courses for all
pupils so that their diverse intellectual, personal and
vocational needs are met.
- To maintain an ordered, supportive and caring
environment within which each individual is helped to
reach his or her full potential.
- To ensure that teaching and learning are of the
highest quality through systematic planning and
self-evaluation resulting in the sharing of effective
practice.
The staff in the department see it as their duty to
encourage pupils to:
- develop the qualities of self-reliance and
self-discipline;
- be aware of the rights, feelings and concerns of
others;
- value the resources and support provided by the
department;
- be aware of the benefit that an understanding of
mathematics can bring to everyday living;
- develop an interest in mathematics for its own sake
and be aware of the satisfaction and enjoyment that can
be gained from an understanding of advanced
mathematics.
