The Careers Room is well stocked with prospectuses, pamphlets, leaflets, books and annual publications. It also has a PC linked to the Internet which Mr Boyd, the Careers Adviser can use with pupils to access websites during their individual interviews.
2nd year classes each have two periods working in the Library and Careers Room in relation to their option choices. These classes are taken by Mrs Lee and Mr Boyd and take place a few weeks before option choice interviews. 2nd Year pupils follow a programme which begins with them meeting Mr Boyd who gives them a presentation. Short careers exercises which are designed to help pupils start to think about the vast array of careers available to them are then completed. The last part of the programme involves a question and answer session with Mr Boyd when any problems and questions can be addressed. 4th Year pupils can be given individual interviews with Mr Boyd which allows them to discuss their future and gain information about qualifications needed for jobs and college/university courses available to them. The Library supports 5th and 6th Year pupils in various ways - a programme of workshops and individual support for UCAS applications which runs from September to December. Assistance with job and college application forms and CVs is also provided. |
