What We Do
The pupils, themselves, summarise what they are currently learning in class.

December 2009

In Geography we made a model of a volcano, did survey about What people thought about the environment. We went out in groups of three and asked people about the environment and it was really fun. We enjoyed making the model the most because it was fun watching some of them blow up and we had to find out some facts about volcanoes and wrote it down and read them out to the class. We also did a play in the class which was about The Earth. We learned a lot about the earth. This subject is really interesting because you learn something new every time you come in to the class. We did a homework booklet about different volcanoes and about their advantages and disadvantages. We did a lot of activities in the class but we also did a lot of work. Our teacher made it easy to learn and think in the class and that's what we like about the class and subject the best.

October 2009

In Geography this year we have been learning about the rainforest, the tundra and the desert. We had a visit from 'the rainforest road show' which was about the rainforest and animals in it, it was really exciting. I enjoyed the rainforest role play were we got to act like we were people arguing about the rainforest we, which I was in. We made a model rainforest for our classroom which was brilliant to do. We got to see what the rainforest tribes used to live like weapons and the blow pipe. We did surveys out side of school asking the members of the local community questions about the environment which was a good bit of fun. We also learned about game keeping when Jake Blackwood (a game keeper) came in and told us about in and we got to ask questions that we had written the day before. We've learned how to use ordnance maps and how to describe relief and drainage. We learned about long distance walks and how to tell if it is a good one or not which I thought was good because our teacher gave us good mnemonics to remember it. Later in the year we are thinking of going on a trip to Lochranza in Arran for a day or maybe even three days.
