Mapland Scotland

Ardrossan Academy

S1 and S2 pupils, along with some P7 visitors from our cluster primary schools, participated in Mapland Scotland when they visited Ardrossan Academy on Wednesday 19 March and Thursday 20 March 2008. Pupils put together pieces from a giant jigsaw which built up to show a map of Scotland, the size of a badminton court. Pupils were involved in activities such as measuring distances, finding places on the map, answering questions, getting information about ferry journeys and finding symbols on the map. Mrs Gibson even managed to find her farm! The map almost covered the floor of our assembly hall. The pupils worked well together, enjoyed the activities and all learned about location, direction and scale.
