In S1 classes are taught Geography,History and Modern Studies by one teacher.
In the Geography section we cover the following topics:
1. Maps
2. Weather
3. Towns
4. Trade
All classes receive homework and do two tests
1. Earth Forces (Learning Intentions)
2. Empty Lands (Learning Intentions)
3. Developing World (Learning Intentions)
All classes receive homework
and do a test. We complete some simple fieldwork in the area around
the school
S3 Course
1. Natural Regions (Learning Intentions)
2. Maps (Learning Intentions)
3. Settlements (Learning Intentions)
4. Farming (Learning Intentions)
5. Industry (Learning Intentions)
6. Enquiry Skills (Learning Intentions)
After the Easter holiday we
have an exam covering the whole year's work.
S4 Course
In S4 we continue work towards the Standard Grade.

4. Trade & Aid (Learning Intentions)
5. International Relations (Learning Intentions)
The Prelim
exam
takes place in
November.Pupils receive much more homework in S4 as they prepare for
the final exam in May.
S5 Course
1. Atmosphere
2. Biosphere
3. Lithosphere
4. Hydrosphere
5. Population
6. Urban
7. Rural
8. Industry
9. Rural Land Resources
10. Development and Health
11. Urban Change and Management
Pupils must complete NAB
tests which they must pass to continue with the course.The prelim is
in January and the final exam in May.
S6 Course
In S6 we do Advanced Higher
Geography.
Pupils must complete a folio of work which is sent to SQA for marking
There are two parts to the folio:
1. Geographical Study - an investigation on a geographical topic
2. Geographical Issues - a critical essay on a geographical topic
There is also classwork and an exam covering mapwork and statistics
