STANDARD GRADE ADMINISTRATION
The aim of this course is to enable pupils to acquire the necessary skills and knowledge required in the increasingly dynamic and complex world of business.
Areas of study include:
This course has 3 assessable elements. Knowledge and Understanding and Problem Solving are examined by a combined written paper while Practical Abilities are examined by means of an externally marked project using ICT equipment. The written paper is worth 60% of the final mark and the project 40%.
STANDARD GRADE BUSINESS MANAGEMENT
Business education can play a key role in preparing pupils for the world of work by extending their understanding of business and by developing skills such as decision-making and information technology.

What is business? The course has 3 assessable elements. Knowledge and Understanding and Decision Making are examined by means of a combined written paper while the Practical Abilities element is examined by means of IT usage and annual SQA project tasks. |

Pupils will then be able to progress to Intermediate 2 and Higher Business Management courses in S5/6.
S5/6 COURSES
BUSINESS MANAGEMENT
Two levels of courses are available. These are designed to provide the participant with knowledge of the environment in which business operates and an introduction to the principal specialist disciplines within organisations.

Assessments are to be passed for successful completion of each unit in addition to the final course examination.
PERSONAL FINANCE AWARD
This is a new course which has been assessed by the SQA as at Intermediate 1 level. The course consists of 2 units - The Principles of Money (POM) and Money Management unit.
The POM unit is concerned with what money is, different forms of income, ways of storing and accessing money, methods of saving, how to open a bank account and foreign currencies.
The MM unit is concerned with expenses and bill calculation, different forms of borrowing, insurance, pensions and Hire purchase.
Both units are accessed on-line by the SQA using their SOLAR platform.
